As we move into the summer season, we're excited to share a few updates from our team.

We're thrilled to welcome a summer intern, Citlali Velazquez Ortiz, from Villanova’s Philadelphia Area Social Justice Internship (PASJI) program. Through PASJI, Citlali has been doing cross-collaborative work with folks at our Unity Clinic, as well as administrative work to support all programming initiatives.

We also recently welcomed Phil Carlino, who has been supporting our team’s new mental health initiatives as we expand counseling services for folks around South Philly. He is currently in graduate school, working toward becoming a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC).

The third team member we’d like to introduce is Camille Vasconcellos – she joined ADROP in September of 2025 through Bryn Mawr College in the Master of Social Services (MSW) program and has been supporting our community members in case management, supportive counseling, and care coordination. By initiating local partnerships, Camille has expanded our services to provide comprehensive care for the folks we encounter. She is working toward becoming a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), and she is on the team full-time at ADROP.
As mental health needs have been growing within our communities, our ADROP team has been actively working toward bridging the gap to provide services. ADROP has been a pillar in the community as a medical clinic and resource hub, and now we have the privilege to provide direct mental health services, as well. While needs will continue to shift and grow, we will be ready to meet folks where they are.
Father Greg Boyle, founder of Homeboy Industries, often speaks about the importance of walking with folks in our community, reminding us that, “we don't go to the margins to "save," "rescue," or "make a difference". Instead, we go there so that the people on the margins transform us, erasing the line between "us and them" to create a community of radical kinship.”
That vision continues to guide our work. Whether through healthcare, counseling, restorative justice programs, or community partnerships, we believe meaningful change happens through relationships, presence, and a willingness to walk alongside others. If you’re interested in volunteering or just hearing more about what ADROP does, don’t hesitate to reach out and connect with our team!
Thank you for being part of this journey with us. To be continued!
