Stewardship

By ADROP Team
On October 3rd and 4th, ADROP’s executive director, John W. Green, spoke to parishioners of Saint Thomas of Villanova to promote Spiritual Selection weekend and begin the process of unlocking their spiritual graces and gifts. A broad array of parish members showed up after each of the four masses that weekend, spanning from young families, professionals and retirees.

Stewardship is defined as the careful, responsible management, protection, and oversight of something entrusted to one’s care. As Catholics, stewardship is the way we recognize the gifts that God has given us and carefully choose how we want to apply our gifts. Mr. Green shared stories of his own discernment that influenced his coursework, decision to do a year of service and his professional experience the eventually led him to his position at ADROP.
The same rules apply whether you are figuring out your profession, family life or navigating retirement. When you learn your skills and commit to the process of applying them in the way that feels right for you, you bring yourself closer to God.
The parishioners are very lucky and blessed to be a part of a stewardship parish, a parish that invites them to participate and get to know one another through the application of what God has blessed them with. Attendees left with some tools to learn more about themselves and see where the gifts they have been graced with can add to parish life and each other. They were provided with an opportunity, a moment to learn and grow, but this is more than a moment. It’s a lifelong journey and every step brings them into alignment with their purpose under God.
