Jefferson HealthyWoman Program
You have been referred by your provider to the HealthyWoman Program at Jefferson Methodist Hospital for either a mammogram, a Pap smear or for both.
The purpose of a mammogram is to screen you for breast cancer and should be done beginning at the age of 40 years every year. The purpose of the Pap smear is to screen for cervical cancer and should be done once every 3 -5 years depending on your age and risk factors even if you are not having any problems. Someone from the HealthyWoman program will be calling you within the next month to schedule these screening tests. These tests are usually scheduled from Monday-Friday 9-5. However it is possible to have a screening mammogram up until 6:30 PM on Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday.
Please answer your phone if you get a call from a Jefferson phone number. They will only try to contact you twice and if you don’t respond they will move on to schedule another patient. The HealthyWoman Program has a language line available so don’t allow language to be a barrier for you.
If you miss the call you can try calling the program back at 215-955-0407 and leave a message saying that you are interested. Please state your name and phone number in English if possible so they know to whom to return the call. There is no cost to you as long as you qualify for the program. If you should receive a bill please bring it into our office and we will intervene. Jefferson can assist with Septa passes or parking passes if patient indicates they need assistance.
Your test results will be mailed to you about 1 month after your test is done. Please bring a copy into our office so that we can scan it into your chart.
